Abstract/Summary
The study determined the associated factors related to the current health condition among the elderly and the relationship between the current health status to their level of functional ability. A structured interview schedule was used as instrument to collect quantitative data from a total of 400 elderly aged 60 and above and current residents of Tayug, Pangasinan. The study found that being married, having hereditary disease within the family and engaging in good lifestyle practices affects the current condition of the elderly in terms of the number of health condition, health conditions which caused medication and the duration of the having a health condition. Results also showed that among the top five types of current health conditions, having experienced stroke and asthma affects the level of functional ability of the elderly among the basic and instrumental activities of daily living identified in the study.
