Abstract/Summary
The objective of the Masters of Engineering Program is to boost the engineer’s grasp of the engineering principles, which will contribute to the advancement of their work. One of the keys in meeting this objective is to undergo a practicum with a special project in an industry or company where students can apply the theories and methods learned in their universities to the problems encountered in the practice of their engineering profession.
The content of this report pertains to the trainee’s practicum program undergone and the special project prese nted to SMART COMMUNICATIONS INC. The topics are divided into four chapters. Chapter I discusses SMART COMMUNICATIONS INC. profile as well as its mission-vision. Chapter II covers the practicum program that summarizes the practicum schedule and the type of training undergone specifically in Wireless Network Planning, problems encountered, lessons learned and solutions. Chapter III is the application of theories and method learned of the trainee through the course of her work in De La Salle University. Providing a “TCH Traffic Model” using time series analysis to project the estimated traffic growth for Christmas’ and New Year’s peak busy hour per cell site’s sector to be used in allocation of network resources of SMART COMMUNICATIONS INC is one of the solutions the trainee presented to Managers and Supervisors of Planning and Engineering Department of Smart Communications Inc. Lastly, an assessment of the practicum and a special project done by the trainee were presented in chapter IV together with recommendations for future projects.
