Abstract/Summary

This study of common causes of learning difficulties in the elementary grades does not presume to offer or provide a "cure-all" for these difficulties. It vrill just try, however, to point out the very prominent causes of learning difficulties gathered from conferences, interviews and discussions with fellow teachers and experienced educators from both city and suburban schools. It hopes to awaken in the minds of teachers and all those connected with teacher-training programs and curriculum making, the desire to help our elementary pupils get more out of their schooling. The role of efficient teachers, suitable textbooks, balanced curriculum and a sensible time-allotment for subjects, will be investigated in this study.
