Abstract/Summary

This action research discusses the improving of the decision-making through visibility of issues identified in establishing a company in the Philippines by a US Company. Formerly, the US company was outsourcing some of their back-end support through a Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) company in the Philippines but they decided to establish their own shared- service company. The main issue was determined through the collaboration of the different departments involved in creating the new company. The root-cause was collaboratively identified as there was no monitoring report in place resulting to repetitive discussion and difficulty in resolving issues and decision-making. The management team worked on the project by creating an issue monitoring report. In cycle one, it addresses the lack of time in preparing the report and the collaboration of the members involved by listing down all the issues encountered. In cycle two, it addresses the usefulness of the monitoring report in financial decision-making especially by the CEO. Moreover, there were different tools and exercises implemented during the course of the action research. Communication and constructive feedback played an important role on the different interventions to ensure proper implementation. The collaborators appreciated the different activities we had especially the effect of the monitoring report we did as it also impacted not just the organization but also the employees in general by receiving additional incentives and benefits resulted by the informed decision-making.
