Abstract/Summary
One major problem of noodle making is the crushed noodle reject. Due to the fact that noodle is brittle in nature and the process involved in noodle making, there is no way that crushed noodle can be prevented. Upon occurrence of machine breakdown, crushed noodle rejects can increase. Machines are unpredictable and it is inevitable that it will breakdown at some point.
The study involves the design and fabrication, and determination of the process improvement impact of a Flexible Noodle Separator in the Pouch Line Packaging Mother Conveyor.
Specific objectives: 1. To design and fabricate mechanical linkages (Flexible Noodle Separator) that would transform into a position to equally separate and distribute the noodles from noodle making to the packaging process during normal operation and when one of the four lines is down. 2. To test the effectiveness of the Flexible Noodle Separator in the Pouch Line Packaging process 3. To determine and analyze the economic impact and capacity increase of the improvement. 4. To create controls on the mechanical linkages that will allow ease in the operation of the Flexible Noodle Separator.
