Abstract/Summary

Timeliness is an essential ingredient of financial reporting as it increases the usefulness of the financial information being provided to the users. This action research was conducted in our organization through addressing the absence of task monitoring, causing the late submission of financial reports to our top management. Our group decided to use the PDCA Cycle as our framework for us to be guided in executing our intervention. By completing two cycles of action research, we were able to submit financial reports in a timely manner. Our first intervention involved establishing a task monitoring spreadsheet which served as a daily monitoring tool for all our tasks. This was able to help our department to have a good workflow management; however, we did not attain our goal to submit the financial reports to the top management in a timely manner. On the other hand, our second cycle focused on the review and refinement of the established task list monitoring by classifying each of the tasks according to the nature of the activity. After the review and refinement of the task monitoring spreadsheet, we were able to finally submit the financial reports on time.
