Abstract/Summary
An Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is viewed as a key component of any government initiative to address the growing problems of road infrastructure networks. ITS needs a communication environment called Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) with various competing network standards seeking to address the requirements. This research aims to develop a radio which can be used in a VANET using the Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) 802.11s communication standard. It will test and evaluate empirically the performance of WMN in vehicular network scenarios. Moreover, in support of on-going projects which are part of the Public Transport System (PUBFix) initiative of the Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOSTPCIEERD), the data gathered and processed by these researches, such as text and images, will pass through the VANET.
