Abstract/Summary

This Integration Action Research paper addressed the issue on the manual journal entry errors resulting to rework by IUAS Financial Accounting (FA) II team. These errors were investigated and by employing root cause analysis and interviews with the members of Financial Accounting II and Support team, the underlying cause was revealed, which is the unfamiliarity and inadequate training of FA II team with JD Edwards Enterprise Resource Planning system. The collaborative constructing of the issue and planning of the action resulted to an agreement to take immediate action by conducting training to FA II analysts on the Advanced General Ledger of JDE system. After completion of two (2) action research cycles, there was a decrease in the number of manual journal entry errors resulting to rework. Developing and empowering employees is one of the operating principles of living the Chevron way in order to attain the mission of delivering valued shared services and solutions for our Business Partners.
