Abstract/Summary
This study identified the seminarians perceptions on the antecedents of servant leadership including personal attributes, love, awareness, persuasion, foresight, stewardship and commitment to the growth of others, and the consequences of servant leadership which are kingly, prophetic and priestly offices. This study also explored the relationship between antecedents and consequences of servant leadership among the seminarians in China. This has been done in order to help the church leaders prepare for effective leadership development for the Catholic church in China. The Structure Equation Modeling design was used for this research. The Antecedent of Servant Leadership Questionnaire (ASLQ) and the Consequences of Servant Leadership Questionnaire (CSLQ) made by the researcher were distributed to 428 seminarians in the eight selected seminaries in China. The finding shows that seminarians from the eight seminaries have often perceived all the dimensions of the antecedents and the consequences of servant leadership. Moreover, the study also found out that there is no significant difference in the antecedents and the consequences of servant leadership between Philosophy and Theology Majors and among the schools except for some dimensions. Furthermore, this study shows that there is a significant relationship between antecedents and consequences of servant leadership and the concept of servant leadership as described by Kingly Office, Prophetic Office and Priestly Office are characterized by personal attributes, love, foresight and commitment to the growth of others.
