Abstract/Summary

In todays challenging economic and political conditions, educational institutions are faced with unforeseen events, problems, and opportunities in which they need to align their core missions, visions and philosophies. Good educational planning is necessary in order for educational leaders to make well- guided assumptions. Through strategic planning, educational planners can analyze the trends and developments in education, and develop a more systematic view and forecast some components of educational planning such as enrolment and capital development needs of the school. This study proposes a five year strategic plan for St.Jerome Integrated School of Cabuyao for SY 2013-2014- SY 2017-2018.

In analysing the data, both quantitative and qualitative analyses were used. The MSEQ survey was used to evaluate the mission statement of the school. The respondents are composed of 32 faculty members. The criteria used are structure, content, and style. It was found that SJISC conforms highly on the set criteria. Analysis on the socio-economic profile of SJISC clientele were based on the socioeconomic survey given to 200 parents. The results on the PAASCU Self-survey revealed that the school is strong in its instruction but needs improvement on the following areas: Faculty, Administration and Library. Goals and value analysis of parents and teachers show that most of the goals were not carried out extensively but only moderately by the school. PEST analysis was conducted to determine the factors that would have impact on the present condition of the school, its potential, and its chosen course of direction. These include the political, economic, social, and technological factors.

The planning model to serve as theoretical framework in this study is based on the model developed by Lerner consisting of an analysis of the mission statement of the school, an assessment of the external and internal environment, and formulation of a strategic plan based on the identified needs and the needs of the 21st century learners.
