Abstract/Summary

This study was undertaken to determine the status of the experimental program of instruction, the concept integration scheme, as to the extent of the accomplishment of its expected outcomes of learning. It aimed to measure the students' progress according to the perceptions of students, teachers, and parents. The instrument used was based on the descriptive ratings used by the school to appraise students' progress since the implementation of the five-year experimental program of instruction. The study further investigated whether there were significant differences in the perceptions of the three groups of respondents. It also attempted to look into certain factors that would be beneficial for curriculum planners and administrators holding supervisory tasks of controlling the outcomes of instruction.

The subjects of this study were 289 students and 289 parents selected through a simple random sampling, and 30 teachers. The main source of the data was the evaluation checklist survey form based on the descriptive grading system of the school which was used by the three groups of respondents to evaluate the extent of the achievement of the goals of the experimental program of instruction. Results of interview with students conducted informally, also lent support to the analyses of some data. Suggestions and recommendations from the parents and the faculty were also supportive of the data gathered from the evaluation checklist survey form.

All the data were then fed to and analyzed by the IBM computer at the University of the Philippine Computer Center. The mean, standard deviation, and the t-test of significance were the statistical analyses involved in this particular study.
