Abstract/Summary
The retail industry remains to be a promising and thriving industry having substantial contributions to the economy. There are numerous categories in this industry classified according to their product offerings. One category is the electrical retail category. Major types of players in this segment are do-it-yourself stores, home depots, and traditional hardware stores. This category has many opportunities that it can take advantage of, namely, advancement of information technology, lower trade barriers, creating in-house brands, franchise expansion, rise of electronic and mobile commerce, and geographic expansion. However, it is also faced with major threats such as intense competition, proliferation of fake products, direct selling, and a possible economic slump. There exists a strong rivalry among competitors due to the numerous players present in the market. The effect of the Retail Trade Liberalization Act, which allowed foreigners complete ownership of a retail establishment
