Abstract/Summary

The feasibility study definitely established a market for the Kawood furniture. With a strong marketing promotions, this market can be made bigger. The project offers employment to a lot of skilled laborers. It is going to extensively make use of a locally grown raw material, the bamboo. The project offers extra income to a lot of industrious people who can plant bamboo and satisfy the raw material requirements of the project. The proposed plant will produce bamboo furniture by using laminated bamboo strips as its main component. Its rated capacity of 15,000 units annually will hopefully satisfy a portion of the ever growing demand of both the local and export markets. The local market is expanding at an annual rate of about 6%, and about 10% for the export market. This plant will be located in Calamba, Laguna and will be the second laminated bamboo plant in the country. The total capital requirement is approximately P1,150,000. Paid-in-capital is P350,000. The remaining P800,000 will be obtained from a long term loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines. Gross sales for the first 5 years averages P2.6 million annually and P4.6 million annually for the next 5 years with annual profits averaging P192,000 and P569,000, respectively.
