Abstract/Summary

St. Marys School for Boys in its eleventh year of existence had no administrative-faculty handbook. The only guide that administrators have, were the general principles of educational administration and its experience in the academic community. To cope with growing demands for a greater effectiveness in the service of education through improved leadership and professional management this writer undertook this project paper. The following approaches were followed in the formulation of this study: intensive review of the various literatures from different schools in Metro Manila area review of Prelature schools thrust in Catholic education, objectives and policies laid down by the Prelature Board of Education review of the St. Marys school for Boys records, observations and practices, written and unwritten rules and regulations formal and informal interview with school heads and scholars of Master of Science in Educational Management at De La Salle University in Manila and three day workshop with the academic and non-academic personnel of St. Marys School for Boys to gather feedback on administrative and supervisory functions of the administration, implementation of established policies, and human relationship in the academic community. The main objectives of this paper is to set up an organizational structure which actual administrative and faculty manual may latter be used in the school in the near future by the coming administrators and teachers. It attempts to lay down the concepts and principle, definitions of functions, duties, rights, and responsibilities of the various personnel in the school. This is done for the purpose of avoiding conflicts and differences that may arise in the exercise of these functions. It also tries to lay down policies and principles governing the St. Marys School for Boys faculty and staff.
