Abstract/Summary

The Saint Anthonys High School of Barbaza, Antique is now in its seventeenth year of existence. It has been managed by three principals since the beginning of its operation. Each of the principals did his best and exerted a strong effort to have a better management. Because of its simple organization, the school policies and etc., are transmitted verbally to its students. Naturally, these policies are remembered inaccurately, if not totally forgotten. Sometimes there is no clear understanding between the school heads, the faculty, and students, because there is no such written policy. So to insure consistency of action and systematic administration, the writer realized the need of providing written guidelines for the school heads, teachers and students. Several phases were employed in this study: Firstly, the administrators and faculty members were interviewed on the need of the school for a student manual. Secondly, the school records, school daily bulletin, and school file were studied with administrators consent. These were analyzed and evaluated to find out the existing practices and policies that had been implemented in the previous years. Thirdly, several student manuals of rules and regulations from other schools were reviewed, analyzed with their administrators permission, to serve as guide in framing the proposed policies of the school. Fourthly, the MEC documents were examined. Finally, the proposed school policies were framed and put in the form of a questionnaire based on the research. This questionnaire was sent to the SAHS for the administration and faculty for critical evaluation. After three weeks, these questionnaires were returned with reactions and suggestions. The respondents reaction in every item of the questionnaire was evaluated and analyzed. Out of fourteen respondents, composed of two administrators and twelve faculty members, thirteen approved the proposed policies without question, and only one partially disapproved it. From this analysis it appeared that 96% of the subjects favored the proposed set of school policies for Saint Anthonys High School. Based on the reaction of the faculty and administration, a finalized version of school policies was formulated.
