Abstract/Summary
This study seeks to determine the feasibility of establishing a family center in Manila based on the results of a statistical study on broken homes, the number and particular needs of the marital cases brought to the researcher and his wife for counseling, and the various activities of the existing family centers in the Philippines.
The objective of this paper is the establishment of a family center in the Metro Manila. The questions that entered the researcher's mind were: are there family centers in Metro Manila that aim at the total, integrated approach of growth, development and counseling assistance to the psychologically and emotionally distressed? Then is it feasible to organize such an all-encompassing family center? Is the Filipino family in need of such a type of family center? What services will really be offered by such a family center?
To help answer these problems, the methodology used in the survey of the existing centers were: the personal interview of the directors or the supervisors of the agencies and the visiting of the six leading active centers or institutes on the family. A sort of ocular inspection of the facilities, and side conversations with the personnel revealed the findings, which are included in this study. It was a first hand interview that brought out the results stated in this study.
The study covers the services of the proposed Family Center, the objectives and functions of the different departments and all pertinent data relevant to its establishment.
