Abstract/Summary

The heart of any school is its faculty. The institution is good or bad, effective or ineffective depending upon the kind of faculty it has. Because of the absence of a Faculty Development Program, the development needs of teachers are not identified and met, and therefore, teaching competency and effectiveness suffers, faculty standards cannot improve, and consequently, goals are not achieved, thus affecting the student, the teacher, and the school as a whole. The Faculty Development Program was conceptualized after a study was made on teachers perception of development needs for teaching competency and effectiveness. The proposed program is designed primarily for the High School teachers of St. Scholastica's Marikina. It is not exhaustive of a complete Faculty Development Program. It includes only the objectives, guidelines and operational procedures, in-service program activities for teachers, and evaluation of the program. Also, suggested ways and means of funding are incorporated in this study.
