Abstract/Summary
In a highly competitive, changing and vibrant industry such as telecommunications, the players must ensure that they are constantly innovation their products and services as well as open to check out various business game plans in order to maintain their users or subscribers. What more if the telecom business in into a joint venture agreement.
Thus, this research paper seeks to address the following issues:
Problem: What strategies should the new comer Globe Payphone/Telcard and Lityan employ to attain a decent revenue growth, an effective and efficient operations and competitive advantages in the payphone market.
Objectives: (1) To improve the revenue growth of Globe Payphone/Telcard (2) To come up with an effective and efficient payphone operations (3) To know the competitive advantages of both companies.
After evaluating and subscribing the joint venture of Globe Payphone Telcard and Lityan as well as the other players in the payphone arena, I recommend the following approaches:
A. OPERATION STRATEGIES
(1) Employ focal overall strategy per year (2) Promotion of quality management (3) Fortify service standards (4) Establish simple and effective monitoring systems (5) maximize Globe's other departments' competencies (6) Go for the number of revenue per line not on the number of payphone deployment and (7) Have a win-win attitude in handling the payphone business.
B. AGGRESSIVE MARKETING STRATEGIES
C. HUMAN RESOURCE STRATEGIES
(1) People and organization as resources of competitive advantage (2) Tap expertise of HR group to assist in payphone business (3) Review and revise job specifications, incentive schemes and staff competency levels (4) Implement career progress plan and (5) Set regular follow up schedules.
D. FINANCE STRATEGIES
(1) Conservative approach and (2) Aggressive approach.
Thus, by adapting the various options and maximizing their competitive advantages, Globe Payphone/Telcard joint venture business will surely provide long term returns to both companies.
