Abstract/Summary

Suggested Upper Merged Ontology Stories (SUMOs) is a story-generation system that creates stories for children using SUMO as its knowledge representation. SUMO would contain the domain knowledge of the system which is the story facts and events that could happen in the story. The inputs of the system would come from predefined characters, backgrounds/setting, objects and theme which would be transformed into their corresponding SUMO form in the Story Editor module. The progression of the story would be managed by the Story Planner module where it would inference the ontology using SIGMA. The Story Planner would have the meta-knowledge that a children‟s story will comprise an introduction, problem, rising action, solution and climax. The system outputs a story plan in SUMO form which can then be transformed into the human language by a language generator.
