Abstract/Summary
After analyzing the potential changes in the macro-environment using the five forces model, the following opportunities were identified: (a) Increase in the Number of tourists projecting prospects for an increase in the sales (b) increase in population resulting in cheap labor (c) growth of the industry reducing rivalry (d) application of Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) resulting into tax concessions to the importer (e) prospect of political stability (f) favorable policies (g) Ecological and Environmental laws restricting new players entrance.
On the other hand, four major threats were recognized: (a) rise in inflation (b) Nepal's topography as it is landlocked (c) development of technology (d) Lack of continuous supply of electricity
After analyzing the value chain and the financial statements, the following strengths were discovered: (a) Good trade partners with the suppliers (b) the Company is a recognized industry leader (c) ability of the company to pay its current obligations to creditors (d) ability to cater to customized orders (e) ability to maintain high quality raw materials (f) low turnover of employees
The weaknesses include (a) limited buyers (b) Inefficient Research and Development Capability (c) lack of strategic planning system (d) weak brand image and (e) weak Internal Communication (f) low profit margins of the company
The vision of Nepali Paper Products Pvt. Ltd is guided by its values of honesty, respect for individuals, service excellence and professionalism, aims to be a leading Nepali handmade paper and paper products exporter.
And the mission is To develop the handmade paper making industry and to generate income to provide support programs to marginalized and destitute women through proper utilization of producers' skills as well as raise their standard. Nepal paper product aims to achieve
(a) A 15% increase in sales annually from 2007 -2011
(b) To have an average net profit margin of 5% from 2007 - 2011.
To achieve its objective, Nepal Paper Product Pvt. Ltd will follow these strategies.
(1) expand geographic coverage by expanding its export to other European countries apart from United States and France that it currently exports to (Specialization), and
(2) Identify itself as a company producing the highest quality lokta paper and paper products in Nepal.
To implement the strategies successfully, Nepali Paper Product Pvt. Ltd. s lack of capabilities in systems, structure, style and skills were identified using the 7S framework and rectified by performing activities as identified by means of the 8 Strategy Execution Process (SEP) framework.
