Abstract/Summary

In partial fulfillment of the requirement in the MBA program, this term paper aims to apply the various frameworks learned in analyzing the potential changes in the macro-environment, the effects of the changes in the present task environment, the industry and the subject firm in coming up with corporate strategies that will attain both profitability and sustainability, as an on-going entity.

San Beda College belongs to the Education Industry. The education industry aims to answer the need of consumers for education. San Beda College is a CHED recognized educational institution.

Changes in the macro-environment segments such as social, technological, institutional, political, ecological and economic may provide a threat or an opportunity depending on the effect on the task environment of the industry. There are several changes in the macro-environment that the company must be always aware of such as the change on the demand of professionals, increasing role of women in the workforce and changing employment profile, globalization and new technologies.

Strengths and weaknesses were based on the financial ratios and the value chain. Strengths are on the financial capabilities whereas weaknesses are on the Human Resources and Information Technology.

The following new strategies are recommended based on the strengths and weakness, the threats and opportunities, the personal values of the key implementors, and broader societal expectation:
