Abstract/Summary
Strategies are not formed in a vacuum. Strategies must be based on a framework in order to arrive at a logical conclusion. Strategy is simply defined as the management game plan to attain its objectives. This paper is concerned with the formulation of strategy for The Birthright Educator's Foundation (TBEF), an educational institution in the industry of special education that serves children with physical and mental disabilities.
The main framework for TBEFs corporate strategy was based on Michael Porters model which describes the formulation of strategy operating within the parameters of (1) company strengths and weaknesses, (2) personal values of key implementers, (3) industry threats and opportunities, and (4) broader societal expectations. The first two factors relate to the company's external environment, while the last two factors relate to the internal environment.
