Abstract/Summary
This thesis aims to design and develop a software tool for cable TV engineers. A Windows-based computer simulation software will create an electronic database for active and passive equipment used in cable TV outside plant design and automate the following: - The characterization of passive and active equipment that includes input and output signal level, signal gain or loss, power consumption, computed location, and quantities. - The characterization of power supply equipment such as current and voltage rating. - Individual and system performance computation of active equipment such as carrier to noise ratio, carrier to cross modulation, carrier to composite second order distortion, and carrier to composite triple beat. Measurement of the accuracy and reliability of cable TV outside plant design software will be computed based on the standards imposed by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC), National Television Standard Committee (NTSC), National Telecommunication Commission (NTC), and actual measurements using existing cable TV system in the country.
