Abstract/Summary
This study is descriptive and correlational in nature. It aims to determine the health status of children in rural Cebu Province. It also seeks to find out the factors that determine their present health status. This study had made use of the 2003 Early Childhood Development Project Evaluation Study of the Office of Population Studies. This set of data was subjected to data re-analysis. The analysis of this study includes 2285 sample children from the different barangays in the rural areas of Cebu. The Researcher analyzed it by doing and utilizing descriptive statistics and Point Biserial Correlation Coefficient. The result of the study reveals several variables that are significantly related to the health status of children. These variables include: (a) the socioeconomic background of the child's family specially the mother's age, her educational attainment, and the size of the household, (b) the mother's childcare knowledge and practices, and (c) the accessibility of the health facility to the child.
