Abstract/Summary

A study of time management in the academic community is needed in order to understand and accomplish the numerous tasks that teachers have to do. Unless effective time management is practiced by teachers, their performance in school would suffer. This study aims to present the time management practices of faculty members of Southern Christian College in the elementary, high school, and college levels. Since no standardized instrument on time management is available, the researcher devised a questionnaire which was pre-tested and item-analyzed to determine its validity and reliability before its final administration. The following statistical tools were used to achieve the expected results: frequency counts, measures of central tendency, percentages, ranking, and t-test for independent samples. The ratings were grouped into five categories, from excellent to poor. However, the faculty members of Southern Christian College fall under two groups only: good and excellent teachers. After the administration of the questionnaire, the answers were tabulated. The time management practices of the good teachers showed no significant difference from that of the time management practices of the excellent teachers. Teachers of varying levels of efficiency rating had varied time management practices based on their values, goals, and standards in the performance of their school work.
