Abstract/Summary
Solid waste reduction program for the manufacture of adhesive tape started with the establishment of baseline data. After the baseline data was established, the solid waste reduction program followed the principles of cleaner production (CP) and pollution prevention (P2). Corrective actions and improvements were done in the process of tape manufacturing to reduce solid waste. The improvements were implemented using design of experiment (DOE) and source reduction approaches. Date reconciliation method was also used in the solid waste reduction program. The method aided the solid waste reduction program by analyzing and accounting of all input raw materials, and the output of finished product tape and solid waste. The implementation of a successful solid waste reduction program simultaneously achieves an increase efficiency in the process for the manufacture of adhesive tape.
