Abstract/Summary

For almost 60 years, Philippine Pasay Chung Hua Academy has not implemented any computerized information system in their daily work procedures. It is the school's realization that it has become more difficult and tedious to manage their work in the current years through the impact of changes, both internal and external. The school is determining measures to match their current demands in this changing environment. With the current influx of information technology, it is envisioned that the information system will serve as an important factor to meet the demands of their changing environment. This research is based on the study of the current business processes of the following offices namely: Director's Office, Treasurer's Office (Human Resource Office), Chinese Department, and English Department, in order to develop a comprehensive and functional information system for this school. Timely, correct and properly disseminated information performs a very important role in the daily operations and decision-making function of an organization. Recognizing this fact, most organization now employs information systems to handle the task of keeping their valuable information accurate, well maintained and error-free. In schools, student enrollment and management are activities wherein information is given, received, and shared among the offices concerned with enrollment procedures. Offices particularly the Academic Departments, Guidance Office and Treasurer's Office are tasked to efficiently manage enrollment information for these are the key component of their operations. A Student and Faculty Management Information System will be developed for the Philippine Pasay Chung Hua Academy in order to solve student and faculty related problems that are commonly encountered by the students, Academic Departments, the Treasurer's Office and the School's Director. The inconveniences encountered by the persons involved during enrollment procedures as well as the management of the student and faculty information can be diminished by careful planning and forecasting and lessening repetitive tasks. Moreover, databases are used to store information making it well-maintained, tamper-proof and non-redundant. Also, the system can deliver the correct information to the proper entities that need it.
