Abstract/Summary
This research embarks two converging fields related to internet growth : internet access equipment design and computer architecture. The access device proposed in this research hopes to provide end users an alternative and cost-effective means of accessing the internet. This is mainly achieved by deploying closer to end users of what used to be internet service provider (ISP)-centric services. For integrators and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), a generic, a versatile board design for multiple applications is exploited to shun corporate resources away from the classical iterative process of board development. Optimizing product development cycle equates to lesser total cost of ownership (TCO) of the product.
