Abstract/Summary

The primary purpose of this study is the establishment of a guidance program in the College Department and the preparation of initial materials for the faculty guidance in-service program of the Lyceum of Aparri. Based on the writer's limited knowledge and impressions of the needs of the College Department the program was developed. The materials in the in-service program that are included are essentially a selected compendium of textbook guidance materials, which shall form the basis for the construction of an original course in guidance in-service program for the faculty of the Lyceum of Aparri. The preparation of the in-service program is prompted by the forthcoming establishment of a guidance program in the Lyceum of Aparri, 1975-1976. On the basis of the data gathered through the use of interviews and personal observations, the writer makes the following conclusions that there is a felt need for organizing a guidance program to serve the needs of the college students in the Lyceum of Aparri. A survey was conducted among the teachers and students to establish their particular guidance needs as a basis for the proposed program and the choice of some materials included in the guidance in-service course. In this connection, four main services are proposed in the program, namely : Individual Inventory, Information Service, Counseling and Testing Services. The other services-orientation, placement services, career and evaluation are also included in the program not as full services yet, but to support the four main services and these will be for future expansion. General and specific objectives were set up to provide direction for the study. Main topics of the in-service program include : 1) general concepts, principles and practices of guidance 2) guidance program and its services 3) behavioral modification techniques and 4) the teacher as a unique guidance worker. In connection with this study, the writer prepared a course outline for the guidance in-service program. It is divided into several sessions
