Abstract/Summary

This study formulates the vision/mission statement of Galang Technical Institute. Research methodologies included a combination of descriptive, historical and developmental methods, utilizing qualitative and quantitative analysis. The variables investigated were the socio-economic profile of the school's community based on the key environmental factors such as socio-demographic, economic, political, social, and technological trends the school's performance based on its programs and services, its fiscal situation, its students' profile, its educational competitors, and the socio-economic profile of its clientele and the charisma of the institution, educational goals and expectations of the stakeholders of the school. The participants of the investigation included the members of the Board of Trustees, the faculty and staff, the students, the parents, and the alumni. The instruments used to gather data in this study were the following: the Socio-Economic Survey Questionnaire the Evaluation instruments for Technical and Vocational Schools the Financial Ratios to survey the school's financial performance the Institutional Goal Inventory the Mission Statement Evaluation Questionnaire content analysis of documents/literature and consultation/dialogue to gather data on the charism of the institution and expectations of the faculty and staff. The quantitative data were described statistically using percentages, means and ratios.

The findings of the study revealed the opportunity and competence profile and the institutional priorities of Galang Technical Institute which further define the school's concept of quality of education and excellence, its role in social transformation, target clientele, desired size, general belief and guiding principles, general commitments and general conditions, approaches and strategies. These definitions articulate the vision/mission statement of the school and the strategies to achieve and implement such in the form of a three-year development plan.Moreover, the participative approach in the formulation of the vision/mission statement of Galang Technical Institute and its legitimization/institutionalization enhanced its ownership and commitment of its stakeholders.
