Abstract/Summary

Beijing Knitwear Import & Export Corporation (Beijing Knitwear) is a state-owned trading company founded in 1982. Going through many years of rapid growth, the company is currently stuck in a no-growth and actual declining in sales situation.

Given the unchangeable microeconomic situation China is facing right now, how can the company create a competitive strategy so that they could maintain its export volume and even increase the sales eventually?

The whole paper is divided into three sections:

The first section deals with the general information about the company. It starts with the situation in China after 1979. It deals with Chinas trade performance after open-up policy, current economic development, major economic reforms and trade & investment policies.

And it also discusses the changes of Chinese textile industry for 20 years, and the company information of Beijing Knitwear Import & Export Corporation with its background, organization, current situation, the competitors, current strategies and financial highlights.

The second part is personal assessment of the company. It examines the overall competitive advantages and disadvantages of the company from my point of view.

The last part is the recommendations and proposed strategies to the company.
