Abstract/Summary
The study is an assessment of the students' reaction towards the counseling services rendered to them by their teacher-counselors. Students receiving such services during the school year 1970-71 served as the subjects. The instrument used was the Counselor Assessment Rating Scale by Nan Walker, published in 1969. The students who were counseled belonged to the freshmen group of students of 1970-71. Of the 618 Freshmen students enrolled in the second semester of school year 1970-71, 438 responded to the survey. A large percentage of this group viewed their counseling negatively. After the evaluation of the De La Salle College undergraduate counseling program, the evaluation indicated that the teacher counselors had little training in interviews, psychological analysis or other guidance and counseling techniques inadequate supervision little time to execute their duties and personalities that were of a teacher than a counselor. The De La Salle students were aware of the existence of counseling services and wished to avail themselves of such. They were also cognizant of the benefits that the counseling services afforded them.
