Abstract/Summary

Statement of the Problem Main Problem: What faculty development program is most needed and feasible for the Notre Dame of Lagao, Boys' Department based on a number of models in corporate long-range planning?Sub-Prolems:1. What is the faculty profile of Notre Dame of Lagao, Boys' Department?2. What are the felt needs of the Faculty based on their own perception?3. Based on the faculty profile and the established needs and priorities, what faculty development program can be proposed?4. In response to their needs, what would be the strategy for a long-range faculty development? The respondents used in this study were the high school faculty of Notre Dame of Lagao, Boys Department. There were 29 faculty members, and of these, there were 9 male and 20 female teachers. The Personal Data Survey and Development Needs Check-list were used and treated statistically using Garrett's Rank Coefficient Correlation. Finally, Franco's model for Long-Range Planning was analyzed and applied for those components which were applicable. Overall Findings and Conclusions1. In terms of strategic planning process rom the analysis of the available Long-Range Planning models and institutional plans, the researcher found the Franco model as the most comprehensive and practical qualitatively for the use of the Notre Dame of Lagao, Boys' Department. The concept of corporate planning process of the above model showed the logical sequence of the strategic planning to tactical or development planning and annual planning is contributory linkages to the goals and objectives of the corporate plan. Priority areas of concern were identified using the faculty development needs assessment. Professional faculty development ranked as the top priority need. This was the rational for designing a three-year Faculty Development Program.2. In terms of development planning A pre-assessment or survey of the development needs of the faculty of Notre Dame of Lagao, Boy's Department determined

the specific needs in terms of faculty professional and psycho-spiritual growth. This was done by ranking the Weighted Average per Item. Within this level of program planning, Franco's model was not strictly followed for internal and external reasons. Internally, the model itself did not seem to specify the process of identifying the priority felt needs of the faculty. However, some of these were translated into various activities or projects in the detailed first-year strategy of implementation. In addition, as a Catholic institution and in response to the specific needs of the teachers, the proposed program examined other faculty development plan models. The development needs survey determined the specific needs of the faculty. The classification of the needs into two categories, namely: professional growth and psycho-spiritual growth was taken from the La Salle Greenhills model. The researcher schedules the targets and activities in terms of these development areas through the period of three years (1984-1987).The model of Franco left much room for creativity, flexibility and adaptability in as much as the proposed program is interim, tentative, and may be regularly updated and revised. Lastly, the proposed faculty development program for the Notre Dame of Lagao, Boys' Department will serve as a planning document.Recommendations1. The corporate planning process of Franco's model can be recommended to other programs as baseline data inputs towards a comprehensive institutional plans such as: curriculum development, physical and space utilization development, auxiliary student services, capital development, human resource development and other contributory programs.
