Abstract/Summary

This research proposes the textbook Integrated Christian Living and Values Education Textbook for First Year High School RVM Schools: Breaking Through in Faith and Teacher's Manual for the Religion classes of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) congregation. The descriptive and the developmental methods were used. The first move was to research and brainstorm on the profile of the high school students in the Philippines, particularly those in the RVM schools. Based on these, the Scope and Sequence Chart was drawn up considering both latitudinal and longitudinal alignments of curricular content. The syllabus per year level was developed. Lesson plans were developed according to the National Catechetical Directory of the Philippines' (NCDP) Multiple Integration. Topics were carefully chosen, and had taken into account the particular experiences, needs, abilities, and values of the learners at each level. Pertinent suggestions and ideas were solicited from the experts in the field. The scope and sequence as well as the content of the syllabi were drawn out from the conceptual framework. The conceptual framework was definitely geared towards responding to the present Philippine societal condition. This Integrated Proposed Textbook is on the theme: Breaking Through Faith (Salvation History).

For effective motivation and implementation of this integrated program, Christian Living teachers must be given regular in-service training and updates. Inter-school visits or team teachings within the school must be highly encouraged. All teachers should be given regular spiritual faculty development sessions.
