Abstract/Summary

This research uses the financial management framework, adapted from the framework of Garcia (1994), in identifying a creative resource for a specified subsidized school. This study also used the descriptive analysis in evaluating the allocation of the resources of Holy Cross School in line with its vision-mission, and goals. The instruments used in the study were questionnaires (1) for both administrators and staff and (2) for the students of the Holy Cross School. Interviews were also conducted. A financial analysis of the balance sheets and income statements was made. To solve the financial ratios, percentage analysis was applied. The Dupont system was used to facilitate the evaluation of the allocation of the resources. The findings of the study were as follows:1. The Vision-Mission-Goals (VMG) Perceptions of both administrators, staff and students needed to be reviewed and revised 2. Financial resources of the school mostly came from tuition, fees, and subsidies 3. The priorities of the school and the allocation of resources needed to be balanced 4. Possible linkages from different sectors had to be established and,5. Financial problems and difficulties mostly involved salaries, tuition fee, and poor facilities. Based on these findings, all major areas of viability and profitability must be reviewed and be given management control with the help of the Dupont System.

In line with the school's VMG, it is suggested that the Holy Cross School maintain its good and friendly atmosphere. The Basic Ecclesiastical Communities can be developed. The school has to sustain its consultative style of decision-making where everyone is respected and recognized. However, in terms of financial management of its resources, the school has to take conscious effort to value budget-making and reporting.
