Abstract/Summary

This study determines the level of religious motivation of the Thai St. Gabriel Brothers and looks into the relationship between religious motivation and selected variables. The population of the study consisted of 52 Thai Brothers who were available out of the total group of 60 brothers. The Religious Motivation Questionnaire which consists of three factors - motive of service, motive of achieving Christian perfection, and motive of sacrificial worship - was used to determine the level of religious motivation. The results showed that the overall level of religious motivation of the Brothers is moderate. The results also showed that: a) There is a significant relationship between respondents' religious motivation (Factor 2, the Motive of Christian Perfection) and kind of work (r = + 0.292, p .05). b) There is a significant relationship between respondents' religious motivation (Factor 3, Inner Call) and parents' nationality (r It was concluded that the Brothers' parents' nationality and the kind of work done by the Brothers has significant relationship with religious motivation. It is recommended to: a) have a well-planned ongoing formation program that would ensure spiritual maturity and social awareness b) periodically reassess commitment to educational mission by each individual Brother in the community and as a Province.
