Abstract/Summary
This study is an attempt to prove that the vision of Mother Ignacia embodied in the 1726 Rule has provided an inspiration to the process of inculturation which the RVM Sisters have translated through the years. Specifically, through the historical method, the study aims to answer the following questions: What is the vision of Mother Ignacia? How has her vision been translated by the RVM Sisters in their various ministries? And how has this vision contributed to the threefold mission of the Philippine Catholic Church?Dawson's view of contemporary civilization was adopted to trace the history of the Beaterio de la Compania de Jesus with Mother Ignacia's vision as the guiding spirit for its survival. The researcher has presented a conceptualized diagram indicating the time-space dimension of the vision of Mother Ignacia and, likewise, a chart of the process of inculturation. The 1726 Rule, being the major document of the study, was analyzed to contextualize the vision of Mother Ignacia and to point out the distinct qualities of her beaterio's apostolates. Furthermore, the study relied upon the interpretations made by the RVM Sisters on the basis of their expertise in theory and in practice of what the congregation stands for.
Finally, the study presented Mother Ignacia as a native evangelizer who showed by example the Christian Faith as a way of life. Hence, her religious life and works were shown as indicative of the process by which culture is evangelized and, as a consequence of which inculturation followed.
