Abstract/Summary

This study will attempt to determine the viability of establishing another ceramic unglazed vitrified mosaic tile plant. The information used in projecting the industry's demand has been gathered from secondary data available from government sources. Other sources of secondary data available were used to estimate the local manufacturers share of the supply. Some first hand information, thru interviews, were made for the purpose of establishing and concluding the veracity of information available, the adequacy and satisfaction of the present market on the supply of locally manufactured vitrified unglazed tiles. The Asian Productivity Organization supplied other sources of information which have been prepared by them especially to help local entrerpreneurs. The market study shows that the present local supply of these tiles are not adequate to meet the demand. Importations of this product, while at present occupying a smaller share of the market, will still be needed to satisfy a segment of the total market. Based therefore on the Project's capability of supplying a portion of this demand balance , the study concludes that the establishment of another ceramic unglazed vitrified mosaic tile factory is both technically viable and economically profitable. A case has been established to warrant pre-investment feasibility studies for the project. It is recommended that a study should be undertaken to investigate the feasibility and economics of producing ceramic glazed vitrified mosaic tiles, which appear to have similar technical requirements but provide for more profitable operations.
