Abstract/Summary

This study determines the functionality of the College of Education of Colegio de la Milagrosa, Sorsogon, for five consecutive school years, 1980-1981 to 1984-1985. It made use of systems analysis. Making use of system analysis, the department of education as a subsystem of the whole institution is considered as a complete system in itself. The analysis of the system is analysis of the three subsystem parts: inputs, thru put and outputs subsystems. For the input subsystem analysis, two components were analyzed: human resources and the expectations of the community. The financial analysis, originally included in the study was excluded because of the unavailability of the financial statement needed for the analysis. The thruput analysis concentrated on the changes that took place in structure and technology, the system used to produce its outputs. In the output analysis, the study looked into the quantity and employment status of the graduates and the level of satisfaction of the community's school administrators of the performance of the graduates. The study made use of the descriptive analytical survey method which includes historical analysis, description, recording and interpretation of data. The survey tool used was a combination of a checklist and a questionnaire and interview. This instrument was used to collect data of the degree of preference of expected characteristics of teachers by the school administrators of Sorsogon and level of satisfaction of 133 administrators respondents selected by stratified random sampling, from among the 281 administrators of the public and private schools in Sorsogon. It presented the profile of the human resources to analyze the quality and quantity of input the system received from the community for the past 5 school years. To get the degree of preference and the level of satisfaction of the community, the mean was used. The Spearman rank ratio correlation coefficient determined the relationship between the degree of preference and the level of satisfaction of the community.
