Abstract/Summary

The study proposes a health program for All Saints' Mission Elementary School (ASMES) of Bontoc, Mountain Province using the developmental method of research. The proposed school health program is based on the assessed needs of the grade six pupils and the present status of the school health environment. Forty-two grade six pupils enrolled at ASMES as well as the thirteen teachers and the school principal served as the respondents of this study. The instruments used to gather data were: the Checklist on healthful school environment, the Health knowledge test for grade six, and the Health practices questionnaire for grade six. In the light of the findings of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. The school health environment could be further improved by considering the expressed needs of the principal and the faculty of ASMES, which included the provisions for a wholesome physical environment, elimination of health hazards, and an organization of a healthful school day. 2. The grade six pupils of ASMES lacked adequate health knowledge and practiced erroneous health practices. 3. A school health program could be developed for ASMES that will respond to the health needs of the grade six pupils and make provisions for a more healthful school environment.
