Abstract/Summary

The study proposes a five year development plan for school year 1984-1985 for the High School Department of Colegio del Santisimo Rosario of Libmanan, Camarines Sur using descriptive research. The environmental analysis of this study included the analysis of the latest Integrated Population Census Report of the National Development Authority (NEDA) and other documents which gave necessary data on the profile of Libmanan, Camarines Sur where the school is located. A socio-economic survey was conducted on the student clientele selected systematically with their parents. The checklist in educational goals for parents was distributed to the parents together with the socio-economic survey questionnaire, while those of the students were administered during the homeroom classes. The Internal Resource analysis of the institution was done through the PAASCU self-survey instrument. The survey contain 9 areas of concern namely: philosophy, objectives, faculty, instruction, library, physical plant, laboratory, student services, administration and school and community relations. Frequency of responses to each item in the SES questionnaire were tabulated and these frequencies were computed into percentages. For the goals, the weighted mean of the responses to each item pertaining to the desirability of specific goals were computed. These weighted means were then ranked to enable the researcher to determine the relative positions of the various goals.

For the internal analysis, the mean ratings obtained from each item in the self-survey instrument were multiplied by weights assigned to arrive at the final ratings. The products of the ratings and the assigned weight were summed up and divided by the total weights assigned. The following are the conclusions of the study: 1. Considering the social and economic conditions in the community, it appears that good prospect exist for improving the quality of life of the people. Generally, if the people are in good financial condition parents prefer Catholic education for their children. 2. Based on the findings of the goal analysis both parents and students perceived the importance of emphasizing the development of students' physical and mental health. A Mission Statement awareness program should be launched. 3. Based on the PAASCU Self-survey results, the school has an over-all rating of 3. 4. It shows the necessity of improving all areas most especially students' services, library, faculty and physical facilities, taking into consideration the following: resources, targets, and means of evaluation. There is a need to formulate a Five-Year Development Plan for the school.
