Abstract/Summary
The Study presents a Miniature Automated Storage and Retrieval system (MINI-AS/RS).
The purpose of the Mini AS/RS miniaturization is to provide a means of demonstrating and teaching the principles of robotic storage and retrieval. Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems are material handling robots used to store and retrieve materials and track inventory. The AS/RSs are usually located at warehouses to store incoming inventory and distribute them to the manufacturing floor when needed. The mini AS/RS is composed of two vertical shelves, a transporter crane and computer control. Shaft encoders and sensors were used for communication between the robot and computer using the printer port as channel.
