Abstract/Summary
The continuous advancement in technology has caused a vast change in the application of automation. Automation is so important because efficiency and accuracy in different manufacturing processes can be attained through it. Handling complex industrial operations can be made simple through the use of automated systems.
The study of the mini conveyor system gives emphasis on the application of the principles of automation and flexible manufacturing systems. These principles are applied to a scaled down model to be used for instructional purposes.
The mini conveyor system consists of three modules, two of which are the conveyor belts and one of which is the corner transfer system. Pallets are moved on a moving belt surface and are transferred from the first module to the third module through the use of the second module or corner transfer system. The second module uses pneumatics to either rotate or push the pallets, depending on the specified conditions. The mini conveyor system uses the Delphi software for feedback and control in the Windows environment. An interface card was used to transmit the necessary data between the conveyor and the computer.
