Abstract/Summary

Vending machines have great deal of potential in the Philippines, especially for cold beverage such as slush in this tropical country. The automation of these beverage stands into vending machines can provide products with more quality and consistency at lower cost. The automation of the slush vending machine is done by incorporating different components for the purpose of letting the customer choose between a 12oz and 16oz cup, accepting of payment and giving of change, dispensing of slush into the cups, and giving the products: cup filled with the right amount of slush, a cap depending on the size of the cup, and a straw to the customer all done with the help of sensors and motors connected to a central microchip. Although an operator will be needed for the cleaning and refilling of raw materials, the operation of the vending machine itself is done without the intervention of the operator. Slush vending is made more efficient and profitable by automation by lowering cost and other upkeep while at the same time giving quality product since consistency is assured.
