Abstract/Summary

This experimental/ethnographic study finds out if cheating attitudes among third year high school students can be changed by using Values Education as an intervention. The 73 third year high school students were classified into either experimental and control groups. Barnett & Dalton's (1981) questionnaire on attitudes towards cheating was used as the instrument. The data were subjected to one-way ANOVA.The results showed that there was a significant difference in the experimental posttest and control posttest on attitudes toward cheating. Moreover, a significant difference was created by the experimental pretest vs. posttest on the Ss' attitudes toward cheating. After the intervention, the feedback of the students in the experimental group revealed changes in their attitudes toward cheating. The results of the teachers' and researchers' observations also indicated the subjects' convictions, resolutions, and effort to avoid cheating. It was concluded that the attitudes of students toward cheating could be changed by using some interventions of Values Education.
