Abstract/Summary

The main purpose of this study is to investigate manifestations of the phenomenon of aswang in Capiz from the Religious and Values Education students and teachers/faculty of the Catholic Schools in Capiz. The collection of manifestations will be examined using the disciplines of social and sacred sciences. In view of the thrust on renewed evangelization of the Church, the significant data will be the bases in integrating human experiences with the phenomenon to the Christian faith through the out put of the study which is a Catechism on Capiz Aswang Phenomenon. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design. A researchermade open-ended questionnaire was utilized. It was conducted through a field survey interview schedule to a number of respondents obtained through a stratified sampling method. Library work, on-line scientific research, and consultation with experts were other methods used in the gathering procedure of relevant data. In view of what the study was looking for in the conduct of data analysis, three categories emerged, i.e. Category 1 for responses on the concept of respondents about CAP, Category 2 for responses on the impact of CAP to the respondents, and Category 3 for responses on the challenge of CAP to the respondents; the grouping and sorting of all responses as themes under each of the category demonstrated 16 themes for Category 1, 17 themes for Category 2, and 7 themes for Category 3. Using the frequency method, the relative importance of responses was established. This study intends to enlighten the perception and change the conceptual, personal/social behaviors, and dispositions of Capisnon in view of the implications of the aswang phenomenon in Capiz. Generally, the study will be beneficial to the evangelization task of the Church in Capiz and to the local government programs in educating the people about it.
