Abstract/Summary

This study described the particular demands for a catechetical youth program that are being expressed in the Diocesan Pastoral Priorities for Evangelization (DPPE) and identified the perceived needs of the Catholic youth leaders in order to establish the intended catechetical faith formation program for the Catholic youth leaders in the Diocese of Imus. This study utilized the survey questionnaire and interview from Catholic youth leaders purposively selected from ten vicariates of the Diocese of Imus. The data gathered were used to find out the perceived needs of the Catholic youth leaders especially on formation program that would enrich their personhood, family life, and their involvement in the Church and society in general. The perceived structural and organization needs of the respondents were the following: a) catechetical formation programs (weighted mean- 4.42) b) support of the parish priest (4.34) (in terms of presence and financial support), c) youth development (4.50), d) social involvement (3.61) and, e) spiritual formation (4.25). Also the perceived personal needs of the respondents revealed that catechetical faith formation program for Catholic youth leaders needs to be created in relation to the Dioceses vision for the youth.
