Abstract/Summary
This action research dissertation proposal focused on organizational diagnosis and strategy development for Granstar Motors and Industrial Corporation (GMIC). GMIC business is composed of dealership (wholesale) and retail (branches) operations. Dealership involves selling motorcycles to dealers (dealers) mostly on cash-on-delivery (COD) basis while branch operations is a consumer finance business wherein the company sells motorcycles directly to end-users on lease purchase. This study is about the branch operation side of GMIC. The application of organizational development (OD) theories and principles is centered on the credit and collections systems and policies of the company. GMICs objective is to establish an efficient collection system and to sustain a collection efficiency of seventy-five percent (75%). When the study was started, collection efficiency was on a decline, and never reached sixty percent (60%). This research examined the key intervention measures for GMIC to improve its collection efficiency, using the OD model which involves the use of Stream Analysis framework and which adheres to the action research cycle of problem diagnosis, planning, and intervention. Using this framework, this paper analyzed the companys organizational dimensions or streams composed of organizing arrangements,social factors, technology, and physical setting. Consequently, the paperategorized problems within the streams, determined their interrelationships, identified the core An Action Research For Organizational Performance10 De La Salle University problems, and presented the recommended strategies or strategic interventions needed to address the companys critical problems areas.
