Abstract/Summary
The dissertation develops, evaluates and revises a book in physics for technician education students. The book is aimed at possessing the desired characteristics that makes it appropriate for the intended target students. The book covers certain selected topics in mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, those with direct application to the practical aspects of technician education. It is intended as a textbook only for the first two courses in Physics for students taking two or three-year courses leading to a diploma in technician education. Education Physics teachers and available teaching materials in the field were consulted in the selection of topics for the book. Students were interviewed and their profile analyzed in order to determine the characteristics of the textbook. And after the textbook was written, Physics teachers and students were requested to formally review the text. Based on their feedback, certain portions of the text were revised. The Physics teachers and students that evaluated the text think that with some revisions, the book is appropriate for technician students. They are recommending the book be formally used in the classrooms and with the help of the evaluation instrument, be further subjected to analysis and revise again if warranted.
