Abstract/Summary
With the thrust of improving our roads and highway system, the government should adopt alternative technology that is efficient yet less costly to maintain. This paper presents the viability of using Alternative Stone Paying Blocks instead of the conventional Concrete Pavement. The study utilized a parcel of land which served as location for the road construction. For a given observation period of the three months, physical defects such as corner cracking, longitudinal cracks, block cracking and and settlement were recorded and from which calculations of maintenance cost were based. The objectives were met through experimentation and in-depth analysis of the constructed prototype. The study concludes that Block Paving Technology is suitable to Philippine setting considering the parameters of Financial Aspect and Economic Study.
